Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S. importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of 3,970 cars during June 2000. This compares to 3,729 cars in June 1999. Year- to-date, Saab sales are at 17,525 vehicles, down 6.6 percent from last year. However, last year’s sales include a total of 2,127 fleet vehicles. When comparing dealer retail sales only, Saab is 5.8 percent ahead of last year. Saab expects an equal number of fleet sales to occur later this year.

Sales of the Saab 9-5 Sedan and Wagon remained very strong with a total of 1,956 cars retailed during June. Of these, 636 were Saab 9-5 Wagons, a 64 percent increase over June 1999. The 9-5 Wagon combines Saab’s world-class performance and safety attributes with real-world versatility features like CargoTracks(TM), an available sliding load floor, and nearly 73 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats folded down.

Saab also sold 2,014 9-3 models in May, including 872 9-3 Convertibles. The entire 9-3 line-up provides customers with a high level of standard performance and safety equipment including features like a turbocharged engine range, driver and front passenger front- and side-impact airbags, and the Saab Active Head Restraint (SAHR) system.
