Initial implementation of the programme began in August at the plant which manufactures the Ford Focus, Fiesta, Ka and the Mazda 2. PPG is responsible for all direct and indirect materials and chemicals related to the paint ‘detackification’ process and cleaning and maintaining the facility’s spray booth.
The programme will help the facility reduce its total costs by minimising the cleaning and maintenance of the spray booth, enabling the painting system to perform at an optimum level.
In addition, the facility will have greater control over the emission of paint particles and it will experience a reduction in the amount of paint waste and material usage.
PPG also has a process management contract at Ford’s Aston Martin facility in the United Kingdom.
