Satellite radio service provider Sirius Satellite Radio on Wednesday said that Infiniti, Nissan’s luxury car brand in the United States, is now offering satellite equipment in all its models, Reuters reported.

According to the news agency, Sirius, the smaller of the two US satellite radio companies, had announced in April that Infiniti was moving toward offering the option in all its models but, until now, the brand only offered Sirius with one type of car.

XM Satellite Radio Holdings, Sirius’ only direct rival in the emerging subscription-based satellite radio market, already offers its radio services all Infiniti models, Reuters said, citing information from XM’s website.

Reuters said that both satellite broadcasters see such deals with car makers as key to attracting new subscribers. Sirius has more than 100,000 subscribers while XM has close to 700,000 customers.

Nissan’s Infiniti range accounts for about 15% of Nissan’s North American sales and a fraction of total US car sales, Reuters added.
