Cadillac will add four-wheel drive to its next-generation CTS sport sedan, according to The Car Connection (TCC) website, which has been talking to brand engineers demonstrating the new XLR roadster and SRX crossover this week in Phoenix.

TCC said timing for the second generation of the car was not revealed – the sharp-edged car is still a relatively new model – but the Caddy people let slip the CTS would add all-wheel drive capability to its current rear-drive format.
The replacement for the STS – aka the front-drive Seville which has been around for a while – also will be available with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, a drivetrain option that’s “becoming the price of entry in the segment,” one Cadillac exec told TCC.
And there’s more, the website added. Various drivetrain possibilities are being evaluated for the SRX and CTS as well: displacement on demand will be added to the new 3.6-litre V6 and the Northstar V8, but not until after the technology is implemented on GM’s 5.3-litre V8.
The new six-cylinder engine has potential for turbocharging and direct injection but no timeline or products for the engine variants were confirmed, The Car Connection report added.
