Visteon is claiming a first for an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) radios – a unit that allows the driver to choose between the competing XM or Sirius satellite radio services available in the United States.

Given two subscription options, consumers can choose their service provider at the time of purchase. The system is offered in a variety of Nissan and Infiniti models.
“[Our] consumer research shows that consumers want to personalise their vehicles and have a choice of satellite radio service,” said Visteon’s Nissan customer business group director Albert Faraj. “They also want the freedom to choose their own cell [mobile] phone provider.”
Hence the availability – also on various Nissan and Infiniti models – of the supplier’s Mach Voice Link system, a Bluetooth wireless interface that enables communication between portable electronic devices and the vehicle. The system allows hands-free, voice-activated access to cell phones with user-selected service providers, as long as the phone itself has Bluetooth capability.
“These are important launches for Visteon,” added Faraj. “They represent an opportunity to build on a relationship with one of our fastest-growing customers.”
