Lear Corporation has selected Covisint to host its supplier portal in a move that it says will enhance Lear’s communications and supply chain efficiency. It will be seen as evidence that Covisint is making progress in the supplier community, which has – in some quarters – been wary of the lead role taken in Covisint by the vehicle makers, principally the US ‘Big 3’.
The Lear supplier portal will use common standards and an Internet-based application. Lear will launch the portal first in the US followed by expansion to all its global operations and suppliers.

John Crary, Lear’s Vice President of Information Technology, said: “Covisint’s web-based, centralised portal is a flexible and cost-effective location for Lear’s business-to- business e-commerce that will improve efficiency across the board.”
Lear supported the initiative for an Internet-based common portal in the concept-development stages and has assisted Covisint in an advisory capacity as a member of Covisint’s Customer Council and through Lear Vice Chairman James Vandenberghe’s membership on the board of directors.
