Car parts maker Lear Corporation said on Thursday it will close a Traverse City, Michigan, factory that makes electrical switches, resulting in the loss of 306 jobs, Reuters reported.

The plant, which will close by July, is shutting down because Lear will no longer supply the parts to Ford after the 2004 model year, Lear spokeswoman Andrea Puchalsky told the news agency, adding that workers at the plant were informed of the decision on Wednesday.

A second Lear plant in Traverse City that makes electronic systems and employs about 200 workers is unaffected, Puchalsky told Reuters.
