The upgrade covers 1998 and 1999 model-year Rodeo, Amigo and Passport models built at the joint Subaru/Isuzu plant in Indiana.
An Isuzu spokesman said government tests had shown that the Isuzu-built models needed more road room to stop than rival models also built during the 1998 and 1999 model years, especially when one side of the road was more slippery than other. Later models recorded improved stopping performance in the tests.
Isuzu said it would replace the ABS computer processors in the 1998 and 1999 models with the same type as used in later versions.
