DMAX, Ltd., a joint venture company between Isuzu Motors America, Inc., (Isuzu) and General Motors (GM), for diesel engine manufacturing and sales, has started production of the new Duramax Diesel 6600 V8 engine.

Start of production is a key step in the evolution of DMAX which will have approximately 400 employees producing over 100,000 engines a year in phase one and with increased market demand, has the potential capacity of produce approximately 200,000 units and employ 700 people in phase two.

DMAX began construction of the all-new facility in March, 1998 and began building pilot Duramax Diesel 6600 V8 engines earlier this year. The engines will be introduced initially on the 2001 GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/3500 Series pickups and chassis cabs, scheduled to go into production later this year.

DMAX was founded in September 1998 under the share equity of Isuzu and GM. The company was established in Moraine, Ohio, to manufacture an advanced technology diesel engine.
