Hyundai Motor America (HMA), Amports, and the Maryland Port Administration have jointly announced the addition of a vehicle port of call at the Port of Baltimore.

Baltimore becomes HMA’s sixth U.S. port and second processing centre opening in the past year.
Shipments are set to begin in April 2002 to the 55,000 square foot
facility, which will undergo a $US6.1 million enhancement, including an automated car wash, to make it a state-of-the-art processing centre.
Three hundred jobs will be created in the region, including 30 at
Amports, as a result of the additional 52 vessel calls per year.
The port is expected to process more than 47,000 vehicles each year.
Baltimore-based Amports is a wholly owned subsidiary of Associated British Port (ABP) of the UK.

By GlobalDataAll Hyundai vehicles for the states of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Delaware as well as the southern portions of Pennsylvania and New Jersey will be processed at the facility. The six states were previously serviced by the company’s New Jersey port.
HMA uses four additional processing centres in Portland, Oregon, Wilmington, California; Brunswick, Georgia; Newark, New Jersey and an inland centre in Alliance, Texas.
