Petrol-electric hybrid cars will be eligible for US tax credits now allowed on electric vehicles, the Internal Revenue Service said, Bloomberg News reported, adding that the move that may boost sales of vehicles sold by Honda and Toyota.
Bloomberg said that electric vehicles can now receive a $2,000 tax credit and was told by spokesman Bruce Friedland that the IRS is requesting information from car makers to determine how much the credit should be for hybrids.
