Honda plans to expand its US model line in 2006 with a new car that’s smaller and cheaper than the company’s Civic compact car, to lure more young buyers, spokesman Andy Boyd told the Detroit News.
The report said the car will probably be priced at less than $US15,000, cheaper than the Civic, Honda’s entry-level model.
The Detroit News said Honda declined to say whether the car will be a version of the Japanese Fit model, sold in some export markets as the Jazz, but noted that Honda’s US unit last year filed for at least 10 Fit-related US trademarks.
