Honda executive vice president Tom Elliott told Reuters that prices for the redesigned 2003 Accord sedan and coupe would range from less than $20,000 for a base DX sedan to about $26,000 for a V6-powered EX coupe, adding that $700 to $1,500 worth of technology had been added to help keep Accord sales at about 400,000 a year.

Honda executives also told Reuters that they were concerned the Accord had grown too conservative, and was not appealing to younger buyers.

“We’re very lucky to have a loyal base of Accord customers who will buy the car again and again,” Accord executive chief engineer Charlie Baker told Reuters. “But … we have to go back to a time when we surprised every one.”
