Sirius Satellite Radio will offer its service in a range of Hertz rental cars from December 1 at major US airport locations in California and Florida.

Sirius and Hertz will initially make available approximately 20,000 Sirius units for renters of Ford Taurus, Windstar, Expedition, Explorer, Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis models.

Customers will pay $5 a day to drive a vehicle with a Sirius radio installed giving 60 channels of commercial-free music and 40 channels of news, sports and entertainment nationwide.

Initially, Hertz customers will be able to request, at the rental counter, a vehicle with Sirius and, starting January 1, 2003, make reservations for the option through all booking channels.

The two companies plan to target potential users of the new programme with co-marketing and direct mail campaigns, along with Sirius signage at Hertz rental locations.
