GM spokesman Dan Flores told TCC that the vehicle maker plans to idle about 1,500 hourly workers today for four weeks – until July 21 – to reduce inventories of vehicles such as the Pontiac Bonneville, Buick Park Avenue and Buick LeSabre.
According to TCC, citing Flores, the closure is one week ahead of GM’s regular company-wide closure, which begins on June 30 and ends on July 14, but Orion will be down for one additional week beyond the closure, resuming production on July 21.
