General Motors is ending its successful – and mimicked – “employee discounts for everyone” on August 1, according to a report on Wednesday.

The company’s new pricing strategy for 2006 models will focus on lower prices – on as many as 46 models – instead of big rebates, The Wall Street Journal reportedly said in its online edition.

After two months of strong sales, inventories are so low that the company doesn’t have enough vehicles in stock to continue the program, The Journal was reported to have said, attributing its information to GM representatives.
