General Motors will recall about 108,000 2004 model year Chevrolet Malibu cars to fix a seat belt anchor that may detach in a severe side-impact crash and reprogramme an antilock brake system controller.

According to Associated Press (AP), the recall covers certain Malibus built between May 2003 and March 2004 – of the total, about 95,000 of the vehicles are in the United States and about 8,300 are in Canada.
AP said Chevrolet dealers will insert a retainer in the seat belt anchor on both the driver and passenger sides of all the recalled vehicles and will reprograme the ABS controller in about 73,000 of the vehicles.
There have been no reports of incidents or injuries related to either condition, GM reportedly said.
