Stephen Girsky is joining General Motors as a special adviser to chairman and chief executive officer Rick Wagoner, and vice chairman and chief financial officer John Devine. The full time post is effective from August 1.

Girsky was formerly the managing director at Morgan Stanley and the senior analyst of the Morgan Stanley global automotive and auto parts research team. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was managing director of PaineWebber’s automotive group.
He has previously worked at General Motors, as an analyst in the treasurer’s office.
