Having been ‘scooped’ by a spy photographer with well-placed contacts, GM’s Chevrolet division has confirmed one of the industry’s not so well-kept secrets – the next-generation S-10 mid-sized pickup truck will be named “Colorado”.

The picture Chevrolet released is very like the artist’s impression published on The Car Connection website by spy snapper Brenda Priddy a few months back after cameras caught a well-disguised Colorado prototype on test in the American desert.
Priddy’s report said the new pickup would be slightly bigger with a more car-like interior than the S-10 and would have in-line four-, five- and six-cylinder twin camshaft engines.
GM said Colorado production would begin at its Shreveport truck plant in Louisiana in the fourth quarter of 2003.
