General Motors’ Oklahoma City assembly plant has finished assembling 400 sport-utilty vehicles only partly made when a deadly tornado hit the factory on May 8, and the company hopes to complete plant repairs by the end of June, The Car Connection (TCC) website said, citing an Associated Press report.

TCC noted that the tornado “took out” the plant’s power station and ripped roofing and siding from the paint shop but left assembly lines and vehicles in build largely untouched.
Last week GM put two shifts back to work for a week to complete the 400 SUVs: GMC Envoy XLs and Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXTs, TCC added.
GM hopes to finish repairs and get all 2,800 workers back to work by June 30, the report said.
