Gentex Corporation has begun shipping interior automatic-dimming rearview mirrors for the 2003 Toyota Corolla and its Matrix derivative.

The company says the deal is a milestone, marking the first time its mirrors have been offered on North American compact vehicles.
The mirrors are standard on the Corolla LE and Matrix XRS and also offered as a dealer-fit option.
The auto-dim mirrors also contain a compass display and map lamps that feature Gentex’s patented ‘white light’ LED technology.
“Last summer our mirrors debuted on the Camry, and now they’re available on the Corolla and Matrix,” said Gentex executive vice president Ken La Grand.
“Automatic-dimming mirrors have successfully penetrated each segment of the market and now can be found on nearly every vehicle type. Historically, once you break into a new vehicle segment, it opens the door for increased sales and application rates.”
