According to Reuters, Palmer, 54, held a variety of senior management positions at Boeing, as well as McDonnell Douglas Corp., before the merger of the two companies in 1997.

His most recent position, until February 2004, was senior vice president of Boeing and he also was president of Boeing Capital Corp. from November 2000 to November 2003. His appointment at Visteon is effective Wednesday, June 2, the report added.

Reuters said Palmer replaces Dan Coulson, who retired March 31, but Visteon had been searching for a new CFO since November when George Strickler, a former BorgWarner Inc. executive, withdrew from his appointment just 10 days after it was announced.

The company cited personal reasons for Strickler’s sudden about-face, the report noted.
