Robert Shanks has been named chief financial officer (designate) of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group, with responsibility for Aston Martin, Land Rover, Jaguar and Volvo, effective 1 December 2002.

He will report to PAG chairman and CEO, Mark Fields while William Cosgrove will continue in his current dual role as CFO and chief of staff.


Shanks is currently CFO of Mazda, a position he has held since June 2000, The business strategy/corporate-planning expert with extensive global experience first joined Mazda in June 1996 as director, assistant to officer in charge of corporate planning and cost planning.


Prior to joining Mazda, Shanks was based in Taiwan from April 1994, as director of finance office, Ford Lio Ho Motor Company, prior to which he had served as director of business development, product and business strategy for Ford’s Asia-Pacific operations. This followed finance positions in various divisions of Ford after joining the company in 1977.
