Ford is bringing in a 5-year/ 100,000 mile ‘powertrain coverage’ plan for the 2003 Focus. The new no-charge Powertrain Extended Service Plan will be transferable from one owner to the next, offering new Focus buyers both long-term peace of mind and improved resale values. The Powertrain Extended Service Plan, which includes full roadside assistance coverage, complements the 3-year/36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and five-year anti-corrosion warranty currently offered on Ford products.

“Focus is already the segment leader in terms of driving dynamics,” said Steve Lyons, president of Ford Division. “This powertrain plan makes Focus even more competitive, and it clearly demonstrates our confidence in this great product.”

The North American produced Focus has so far been subject to nine safety recalls while six investigations into possible defects are still pending. Reports of airbag burn injuries and airbag components setting fire to other parts of the vehicle interior have recently prompted US safety regulators to intensify another investigation into defects in the car.
