Ford announced a new consumer incentives programme in the US on Wednesday, hoping to lure more customers into showrooms with better deals on its cars and trucks, Reuters reported.

The news agency noted that the enhanced deals follow new incentives unveiled last week by Ford’s domestic rival General Motors, which has led Detroit’s profit-gouging price war for more than two years.


According to Reuters, Ford said it was beefing up cash rebates by $US500 on some models, including its bulky Expedition and Excursion SUVs while it has also lowered interest rates or extended 0% loan offers on some vehicles, including its new Freestar minivan.
