It is reported that eight of Ford’s North American plants have temporarily stopped  shipping a number of SUVs and pick-ups because of a defective component in their four-wheel-drive systems.

It is reported that among the vehicles being held at the plants are the Ford Explorer, Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs, as well as Ford F-series pick-ups.


Reports indicate that the defect was discovered during routine inspections. The eight plants that produced the defective vehicles are truck plants in Edison, N.J.; Kansas City, Mo.; Louisville, Ky.; Wayne, Mich.; Norfolk, Va.; St. Louis; St. Paul, Minn.; and Oakville, Ontario.
