Ford has appointed Canadian Michael McCarney as the new president for its ASEAN Operations, based in Bangkok. He succeeds John Parker who has become executive vice president at Mazda.

McCarney is now responsible for operations throughout the ASEAN region that includes Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines.


Previously, he was director of truck manufacturing operations in Michigan and plant manager of the Wayne stamping and assembly Plant, where he headed 15,000 employees and oversaw production of over a million vehicles a year.


McCarney has been with Ford for 30 years since joining Ford in Canada in March 1974. He has since held various positions within vehicle operations in North America and has also had several short assignments in Europe.
