Federal-Mogul Corporation has opened a sales and marketing office in Shanghai, China, to serve as the central point of contact for the automotive supplier’s customers in China.

The new office, in the Shanghai Trade Center, supports the business operations of five Federal-Mogul manufacturing facilities in China. The office coordinates communication with Federal-Mogul’s global original equipment (OE) customers and its local aftermarket customers.
“Establishing this new sales and marketing office in China supports our business strategy of continuing to increase our presence in the Asia-Pacific region. Having an office in this important automotive center will allow us to better serve our current customers while facilitating future business growth in the region,” said Chip McClure, president and chief operating officer, Federal-Mogul.
The new office supports the business operations of Federal-Mogul’s wholly owned manufacturing facility in Guangzhou, and its majority-owned joint venture manufacturing plants in Wuhan, Qingdao, Shanghai and Nanchang.
Federal-Mogul will coordinate and standardise all OE and aftermarket brand marketing, new business development and customer support in China through the Shanghai office. “From an efficiency and effectiveness standpoint, the Shanghai office allows us to leverage our brand marketing efforts and promote our industry-leading brands more effectively than before,” said Qingping Zhu, general manager, Federal-Mogul China.
In the near future, Federal-Mogul plans to set up a local distribution centre in Shanghai that will help coordinate and standardise customer order and delivery of replacement parts in China. “The new distribution center will be advantageous for Federal-Mogul’s customer service and growth in the Asia- Pacific region,” Zhu said.
Zhu, who joined Federal-Mogul in 2000, oversees the five manufacturing operations as well as original equipment and aftermarket sales. He previously served as the general manager of Federal-Mogul Shanghai Bearings Company in Shanghai.
