Denso Corporation has bought 33.4% of Korea’s Doowon Climate Control Company, enabling the company to establish climate control business in Korea as Doowon enhances design and production engineering abilities.

Doowon has 20% of the Korean domestic climate control market and is the second largest manufacturer in Korea with customers including Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors.

“Korea is the fifth largest car production country in the world with 2.95 million vehicles produced in 2001 [and] it is essential that Denso gains a presence in the Korean market,” said senior managing director Hiroshi Uchiyama.

“The growth of the Korean car market is expected to continue and it is projected that the car air conditioner market will expand.”
