Peddireddi, 34, will receive his award during the North American Manufacturing Research Institute (NAMRI)/SME awards luncheon and founders lecture during the North American Manufacturing Research Conference (NAMRC) at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, today at noon.
The prestigious award, established in 1979, recognises significant achievement and leadership in manufacturing engineering. Nominees must be under 35 years of age.
Utilising innovative approaches including power measurement, cutting force analysis and leveling, improving tool designs for specific machining problems, application of math based metal removal simulation tools and laboratory validation, Peddireddi is a leader in analysing and improving complex machining processes.
He led a team of manufacturing engineers and research scientists to analyse failure modes for cutting tools in the production process, leading to the development and implementation of new tools. He then led the development of production processes across many Delphi manufacturing plants in North America, Mexico and Brazil, which utilise redesigned tools that have better tool life and cycle times that are 15 to 20% shorter.
Peddireddi began his career at Delphi in 1997 at Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems as a manufacturing engineer. He transferred to his current position in Delphi’s advanced manufacturing engineering group at Delphi’s Dayton Technical Center in 2000.
Peddireddi is a graduate of the Regional Engineering College in Trichy, India, and holds an MS in industrial engineering from the University of Toledo, as well as a professional engineer license in manufacturing engineering from the state of Ohio.
He is a member of SME.
