For the second consecutive year, Delphi Automotive Systems (NYSE: DPH – news) plants earned Productivity Improvement Awards from Honda of America.
Representatives from Honda of America presented the awards to Delphi in a ceremony today at Delphi’s Anderson, Ind., generator plant. The representatives from Honda were Tom Lake, assistant manager of purchasing for Honda of America; Melissa Goubeaux and Pam Heminger, Honda purchasing coordinators; and Mark Lackey, a Honda buyer.

Delphi’s Fitzgerald, Ga., and Oshawa, Ontario, operations were recognized for their production of batteries. The Anderson operation was recognized for generators, and the Juarez, Mexico, operation for cruise motors.
To qualify for the award, a supplier must initiate an activity that results in significant gains in productivity and efficiency. The supplier must also have high quality and on-time delivery standards.
“These awards are testimony to the commitment to produce the highest- quality products for customers worldwide that all of us at Delphi and Honda share,” said Guy C. Hachey, Delphi vice president and president of Delphi Energy & Chassis Systems.
Koki Hirashima, president of Honda of America, said that Honda would be expecting even more from its suppliers in the future.
