Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that its Plumley Hose Division will supply fuel hoses for use on the new diesel engine produced by DMAX Limited, a joint venture between Isuzu Motors America and General Motors. Production is set to begin in June.

As part of this new business, the Plumley Hose Division, headquartered in Paris, Tenn., will supply the components to the DMAX assembly plant in Moraine, Ohio. The hoses were customized to Isuzu’s specifications for this package for use on several of General Motors 2001 model-year light and medium trucks.

“Plumley has provided us with great support from prototype preparation to initial production,” said Gary Hebda, purchasing manager for Isuzu Motors America. “Plumley has been able to fulfill all of the program’s timing and quality requirements.”
The flouroelastomer (FKM) fuel hoses will be created from materials mixed at Plumley’s Mixing Facility. The in-house mixing facility is offered to Dana customers as a support center to create customized, more cost-effective specialty elastomers in a quality-controlled environment.
“Our state-of-the-art design and testing center enabled us to create materials precisely to Isuzu’s unique specifications,” said Stephen Plumley, general manager at Dana’s Plumley Hose Division. “Plumley specializes in high value-added materials such as FKM. Our expertise in such organic rubber materials allowed us to customize these components in a relatively short time frame.”
Dana’s Fluid Systems Group provides components, modules, and systems to engine and vehicle manufacturers worldwide. The group consists of Dana’s Fluid System Products operations, Boston Weatherhead division, and Plumley hose operations.
