Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 3,683,447 vehicles, down 4.1 percent from like-2003’s pace.


In the U.S., automakers are estimated to have produced 254,862 vehicles last week, down 1.0 percent from the 257,446 cars and trucks built in the previous week. To date, calendar 2004 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 2,762,440 units, down 2.6 percent from the 2,834,894 vehicles built in like-2003.



Last week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 50,939, a decrease of 9.8 percent from the 56,451 units assembled in the previous week. Estimated calendar- 2004 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 582,771 units, down 2.4 percent compared to the 597,045 vehicles produced in like-2003.



Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 29.5 percent; Ford Motor Co., 26.0 percent; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 15.5 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 6.6 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 6.6 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.5 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.1 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 1.3 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 1.1 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.9 percent; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 0.2 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.6 percent; and other manufacturers, 2.1 percent.
