Houston’s newest Ford dealership is offering $US50,000 to any full time radio or television personality who will legally change his or her name to ‘Southern Ford’ and use that name in their daily broadcasts.

Said spokesman Mike Baches, “I don’t see any reason why our name wouldn’t be a suitable handle for a DJ, sportscaster, or weatherman.”

The offer stipulates that the personality must be a full time host, co-host, or regular reporter with weekday exposure on a full power, English language radio or television station, and mandates that payment be disbursed over a two year period, in case the personality’s employment is terminated.

Baches said his proposal provides reciprocal benefit beyond the cash reward.

“We realise that every time he says his name, people will think about us but every time we advertise our name, people will think about him, too. Sounds like a fair deal to me,” he said.
