BorgWarner has signed a deal to supply cam and oil pump drive systems for Ford’s
new family of in-line four-cylinder engines.
Annual production estimates are expected to make it the largest engine programme
in the company’s history.

The new engines replace those that currently use rubber timing belts, reflecting
a trend among vehicle manufacturers to favour chains over belts, because chains
are stronger and more durable and therefore improve performance and reduce warranty
costs.
BorgWarner will make the components at its Morse TEC plants in Guadalajara,
Mexico; Nabari City, Japan; Ithaca, NY; and Arcore, Italy.
