Benteler of Germany has opened a new technology centre at its North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., designed to enhance the company’s relationships with OEM customers in the Detroit area.

Benteler Automotive chief executive officer Nick Ghoussaini said, “We are firmly committed to becoming the preferred systems supplier to our North American OEM and global customers. This new facility will support our quest to go beyond today’s demands and create new technological systems that improve quality and simplify how automakers do business.”
Walter Frankiewicz, president of Benteler Automotive North American Operations, said the facility will play a key role in the company’s efforts to expand its current reputation as a leading European automotive supplier to one as a leading global supplier.
“We have the technological expertise, experience and manufacturing excellence to become one of the world’s foremost Tier One suppliers,” he said. “Now, we have an advanced technology center right here in the automotive capital of North America to help us further leverage these great assets and maximize value for our customers.”
In addition to this new facility, Benteler operates technology centers in Germany and The Netherlands.
In recent months, Benteler acquired PD&E, the vehicle development arm of NedCar, which was a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Volvo. PD&E provides a complimentary “vehicle systems” technology resource to the design, development and testing capabilities Benteler has in Auburn Hills.
