In addition, the company expects earnings for its fiscal year ending September 30, 2002, to be in the range of $2.19 to $2.27 per share, before special items.


The company had previously said it expected earnings of $0.70 to $0.75 per share for its third fiscal quarter and $2.05 to $2.15 per share for its fiscal year, before special items.


“Our improved earnings outlook reflects stronger than expected build rates for both light and commercial vehicles in North America and lower interest expense.  We continue to benefit from our efforts to reduce debt levels and the favorable interest rate environment,” said ArvinMeritor chairman and CEO Larry Yost.


ArvinMeritor expects to release its third fiscal quarter results before the market opens on July 18, 2002.
