Last year, GM selected AAM as a driveline systems provider for the program, and awarded design responsibility to AAM for the driveline system, module and components as well as systems integration accountability.
As a result of this new contract, AAM will produce one-piece aluminum, one-piece steel and two-piece steel driveshaft assemblies for the GM platform. The driveshafts feature long-life universal joint designs in a variety of joint sizes and configurations, which add to AAM’s driveshaft portfolio.
“We are extremely pleased to have been awarded this contract,” said AAM Co-Founder, Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Dauch. “Our engineers have worked diligently to design these driveshafts to be an integral component of the entire driveline system for this significant General Motors program.”
