A parts maker affiliated with Toyota is eager to have the automaker use its new vehicle testing facility in Michigan, an official told the Associated Press (AP) on Thursday.

AP noted that Aisin Seiki, which makes transmissions and other parts for Toyota and other automakers, has recently opened a new site near Fowlerville, Michigan.

Aisin spokesman Takeshi Nakamura told the news agency his company wants automakers, including Toyota, to use that facility.

Aisin, based in Aichi Prefecture, customarily shares testing sites with Toyota. Toyota has a product development center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has been steadily boosting its share of the North American market, the Associated Press added.
