Despite tough economic conditions in 2001, sales of aftermarket parts wholesalers and retailers increased, according to a new survey. Net sales for the surveyed aftermarket wholesalers and retailers increased an average of 8.6 percent in 2001, according to MEMA Financial Services Group (MFSG).

Of the companies participating in the survey, net sales increases ranged from 18 percent to 1 percent in 2001. According to MFSG, the growth in sales of these major wholesalers/retailers is obtained at the expense of the smaller players since the aftermarket is experiencing minimal growth.
