The new carpets are trademarked Rieter Ultra Light carpet systems and are claimed to offer up to 50% weight reduction compared to traditional carpets, and reduce interior vehicle noise.
In addition to the new carpet system, UGN also is producing a variety of sound treatment products including engine side parts, carpet underlay and seat upper backs at the new plant.
Production began in November 2005. As the company expands, UGN will produce additional products at the facility.
The 300,000 square foot plant has created approximately 90 new jobs and, when fully operational, will employ around 300 people.
