The United Auto Workers (UAW) intends to commence a new round of discussions with Volkswagen for recognising it as the collective bargaining agent for the company’s workers at the Chattanooga plant in Tennessee.

The UAW plans to form a council that would include both white-collar and blue-collar workers, Reuters reported.

According to a recent filing with US labour officials, the UAW has the support of 55% of the plant’s hourly workers.
