Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) announced plans to produce Toyota’s first hybrid in North America — the Camry hybrid — starting in late 2006.
In 2006, Toyota says the following US-based projects are planned:
- Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama (TMMAL) will expand to increase V8 engine production. Once complete, the plant will have 800 team members and investment will total US$490 million. Production is scheduled to begin in late 2006;
- TMMK will begin production of the next generation Camry in February and Toyota’s first hybrid produced in North America — the Camry hybrid — later this year.
- Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) and Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) Inc. will begin production of the next generation Tundra later this year.
