Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas has marked 10 years since breaking ground for the San Antonio truck plant by donating 10 vehicles to local community organisations.
The ’10 for 10′ gifts saw 10 Tundra or Tacoma models donated to 10 local area non profit groups and institutions that included meals on wheels, school districts, a fire department and the San Antonio River Foundation.

The US$2.2 bn, 200,000 unit capacity plant assembles Tundra and Tacoma pickups and directly employs 2,900. Seven of the 21 on site suppliers are minority joint ventures – six of which are locally owned – and combined with the plant, total employment is nearly 6,000.
“Toyota Texas is committed to deepening our roots in our neighborhood here on the South Side,” said Toyota Texas president Chris Nielsen. “We want to thank San Antonio, its citizens and community partners for their unwavering support during the past decade.”
