The Altima sedan is currently Nissan’s best-selling model and includes hybrid and coupe models built on the D platform with 3.5-litre V6 or 2.5-litre I4 petrol engines with six-speed manual or ‘Xtronic’ CVT automatic.

Altima models are assembled at two Nissan assembly plants in the US – Smyrna and Canton, Mississippi.  Smyrna makes about 750 Altimas a day and Canton 600.

Smyrna also produces export Altimas for markets such as Canada, Mexico or the Middle East. Approximately 20,000 were shipped in the first seven months of this year.

Last month Nissan’s US plants produced their ninth millionth vehicle since the automaker first started assembling vehicles in the United States in June 1983.
