Nissan has added another 226,326 vehicles to an airbag recall in the US, taking the total to 664,628.

It is recalling 2002-2003 Nissan Maxima, Pathfinder and Infiniti I35 and QX4; 2002-2004 Nissan Sentra and 2003 Infiniti FX vehicles to replace inflators on original or replacement Takata passenger air bags where there is a risk of the inflator rupturing on deployment.

The recall is expected to begin on 11 August.
