The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an investigation into Volkswagen 2015 Tiguan featuring a Takata airbag, as the airbag may rupture.
Volkswagen vehicles were not part of the Takata airbag recall that involved 34m vehicles by eleven automakers.

The company said, “Volkswagen learned of a single incident involving a Takata airbag in June and brought it to the attention of NHTSA. Volkswagen is working with the agency and Takata to investigate and understand the situation.”
Both Takata and Volkswagen have until 24 August to respond to the NHTSA and reveal if airbags fitted to any other Volkswagen vehicles have ruptured.
Volkswagen has not recalled the SUV yet, Edmunds.com reported.
