Facebook, Yelp and Google will be incorporated into Mercedes-Benz’s 2013 line, the carmaker announced at CES.
According to PC Magazine, ‘mbrace2’ is the second generation of Mercedes-Benz’s cloud-based services. Updates will be provided over the air, and mbrace2 works with iOS and Android devices.
The features will be standard in the MY13 SL-Class which will launch in the spring.
Mercedes borrowed from the American Declaration of Independence during the company’s first-ever CES keynote speech that promoted mbrace2.
“After all, the car is also a personal Declaration of Independence – not only independence from horses or trains, but independence from distances,” Dieter Zetsche said, “From the limits of your home town, from the local employers and landlords, at a certain age also from your parents, and perhaps Vegas motel rooms.”
Zetsche ended with a paraphrase of the Declaration of Independence, as applied to automobiles: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men have certain fundamental rights, and that among these are Live, Liberty, and the pursuit of Mobility!”
