The AAI (AutoAlliance International) plant at Flat Rock in Michigan has built its last Mazda6 sedan. The company will import the replacement model for North American markets from its Hofu 2 plant in Japan.
Even though AAI, which has been going since 1992, will now build only Ford cars, it remains a Ford and Mazda 50-50 JV. The factory’s only other product is the Ford Mustang but $550m is about to be invested to add production of the company’s Fusion sedan from 2013.
