The Munich centre is Lear’s 10th such facility globally, and is dedicated to serving BMW. The new Kronach laboratory will be a product creation and validation facility and an integral part of Lear’s global center of excellence for infotainment systems.
The new Munich facility will employ 35 people in sales, engineering, quality and other technical functions and joins nine similar centres in the United States, France, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom and China that provide electrical and electronics technical and sales support to about 25 automotive customers globally.
The new Kronach laboratory will further product development initiatives with the addition of two major acoustic chambers, listening studios, a control room, numerous development labs, a benchmarking facility and engineering offices, as well as presentation areas, meeting rooms and a customer centre. This facility is targeted to open in the first half of next year.
